Fire & Story Festival animation

As a team, Riley Reynolds, Anna Feeney, Una Nei and I created an animation for Paper Whale’s annual Fire & Story Festival that was to be projected around 50ft. Given the conceptual theme of growth, we were asked to think about how the changing seasons allow for the rebirth and renewal of not only the things around us, but also within us.

Storyboard

Our vision put an emphasis on cycles and rituals, which inspired our creative concepts around Paganism and our desire to be able to loop this ritualistic cycle.

color palette

Because it was going to be projected, it was made clear that having high contrast was vital. We did multiple color tests to ensure that we had enough contrast.

assets & style frames

Each of us contributed to asset creation and style frames, making sure to stick to our agreed upon illustrative style as strictly as possible.

motion tests

I was in charge of our wisp’s motion. I to ensure that the motion was smooth, as it served as the audience’s visual guide throughout our story.
